Hi Dave, There is a script below for setting an ethernet adapter as metered. Should be able to modify it to disable metered.
I have noticed a few machines in our environment that have 'Data Usage' 'Data Limit' enabled on the ethernet adapter. This has been causing issues because updates are not automatically downloading, as wuserv believes it is on a metered connection. This is the same setting that can be found at WindowsKey | Settings | Network&Internet | Data Usage.
I've seen a few tutorials on using netsh for query the wlan cost setting, but these same commands do not seem to be relevant for the ethernet adapter. Been googling for a bit trying to find ways to determine and didn't have any luck with the following methods..
- Regedit Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles\ 'Category' setting or Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\DefaultMediaCost.
- netsh lan doesn't seem to show any cost settings
- get-netadapterstatistics settings doesn't seem to give any info, looked at get-netadapter and get-netadapteradvancedproperty without any luck.
