Hi, I am working in a school and we are thinking of moving everything to cloud technology(hardware, & software). I would like to know which cloud computing technology is better for the school environment. We are currently using the paid version of google workspace products for education and licensed versions from Microsoft(Windows servers 2016/2019, Windows 10  Education, and MS Office 2016 applications). Any suggestions, please?

    Thanks in advance.

Both Google and Microsoft are fine for schools. What matters is acceptance and adoption by teachers and students.

You're likely going to have to maintain some hybrid arrangement but for end user software and hardware, that's dependent on you.

The Google environment will let you deploy Chromebooks if you're thinking 1:1 or managed carts. That would also limit productivity applications to the Google products though. But I personally feel that, for education-grade collaboration, Google Suite is better.

Office is more powerful, but overly complicated for collaboration in an education context.

There are also other considerations for administrative staff.

    • may also want to look at factoring in on-prem stuff into the mix also in case of internet access failure or have at least another way of 'getting out' if primary route is broken - even if this only for those in management level positions. its' ok being 'in the cloud' - if you can reach the sky.
