As an independent IT contractor, I do "charity" work year-round. I've got certain clients / friends who I know are on VERY tight budgets but still need their computer systems. They try to keep their calls to me to a minimum, and in return, I don't charge them. I don't even ask for a receipt so I can deduct the value of my work on my taxes. I do this just because I truly believe in the work they do to better the community and the world. When they need new hardware, they buy it (I tell them what to get) and I deploy it for them.
The International Day of Charity is a reminder for us all to partake in the act of giving. Together we can make a difference to reduce afflictions through philanthropy and volunteer work. There are multiple ways to celebrate this day. For example, you may donate money, volunteer your time, or attend an organized charity event.
What do you plan to do on this special day to make life a little more beautiful? The acts of kindness that you display on “International Day of Charity” do not have to stop there. Continue to bring joy and happiness to the world by carrying it on throughout the year!
The last time that I volunteered, my son and I went to the Dream CenterOpens a new window. We handed out groceries to the nearby neighborhoods. It was such a humbling, amazing and heartfelt experience.
The efforts of one person can’t move mountains. It’s the strength of us all working together that makes a change. — Unknown
