What things to consider when making a disaster recovery plan for your newly set up business?

The few things you need to ask first ?

    - What type of business ?

    - What is the reliance & tolerance level ?

    - What is the budget allocated ?

  • Julia covers pretty much all the basics.
I would add you need to know the cost of downtime to. the business. There little point spending millions on DR solutions if downtime only costs a few thousand a day

  • Thr first paragragh of a DR plan should read

Do not panic, take stock of what is broken, rough idea of timeline, who to inform.

Get a cup of coffee/tea - take 5 minutes out

start to review your recovery plan ....

Too many times in the past, I've seen peoplepanic when a major incident had occured. Rushed right in and tried to fix things quickly without writing down the steps they have taken so they can be reversed out if needed and have made things worse.

You need to approach these things in a calm and sensible professional not a headless chicken.
