  • If you installed a V4 driver on the server you need to push that driver out to the workstations first before trying to connect. Unlike V3 drivers, V4 drivers are not pushed out.

  • We are using some V4 drivers but mostly PCL6 drivers. What's the best way to push the drivers out?

  • Error 0x06 is invalid handle.

Typically this is more a driver related error.

If you log onto the system as an administrative account, add the connection, then log off / log on as the user account do you still get the invalid handle error?

  • it's strange.  just signed into a test local account and the issue is no longer occurring.   checked with a user experiencing the problem.   she is reporting getting an error message the app is blocked by an administrator. the user is reporting that she can see the printers in the directory but can't add them.   i don't believe we are blocking adding printers in group policy.

  • the printer the user is having issue with is PCL6 driver.  I signed into a test machine with a non-admin test user.  I am able to add the printer without issues.

  • UPDATE:  OK.  I found a GP that was blocking the installation of printer drivers.  However, It's now requiring admin creds to install the drivers.   Looking into what additional GP changes need to be made

  • UPDATE:  I am still having issues.  I have set the GP policies.  It worked to fix the issue on one of the test system but not the other two.  The other two are still getting the Connect to Printer 0x00000006.  I have set up point to printer and made sure through GP user have the ability to install print drivers.  Am i missing something?  Any assistance would be appreciated
