Auto adding users to certain drives by adding them to organisation units.

When we add new users to Google WorkSpace, we then seem to have to give each new person access to individual drives (so click on each drive, and add a person...). Lots of work and lots of repetition.

Is it possible to automatically give permission to a new user to certain drives based on their organization unit?
Ideal scenario: We add a new person to a certain business unit, and all the members in that business unit automatically get access to certain shared drives.

  • Google Groups is the most straight-forward way to manage sharing. They're more scalable and flexible than org units.

    If you needed to make org units work, you'd need some sort of custom automation with GAM, Apps Script, or a 3rd party tool.

    • You can achieve that by creating Groups. All Group members will have access to the same shares.

      Google Drive doesn't support OU structure.
