  • Maybe something like a Dell Inspiron would do the trick?

  • We went with the dell inspiron 5520. Its not a touch or 2n1. I have had mine for about 2 months now and its been great.

  • Thanks for the replies. I'll admit, I was hoping, specifically, to get GreenGuy help from HP and Lenovo but since regular Spiceheads are replying, here's some additional details:

We're trying hard for device uniformity. We're moving away from 15" screens and going to 11" (all the kids want the smaller laptops anyway). The HP Streams provided us with consistent power cords among devices, except for our chromebooks which use USB-C. The Lenovos quoted use USB-C chargers, so that is a big plus. The other issue is price. We have to stay below $385 per unit to keep our funding without having to pay out of pocket per device. Spec-wise we're looking for 4GB-8GB of RAM and no less than 128GB storage space (some vendors have been trying to sell us 64GB storage, which won't cut it).

Capt America, can you provide me a sku (part number) of the Dell you're using?

  • Ah your using ECF funds, sorry I skipped over that part. yeah those laptops aren't what your looking for. We used the same funds, but we purchased dell 3100 chromebooks. Finding a decent laptop for under 400$ wasn't worth it to us.

  • Still looking for a GG to help me get this sorted. Please.

  • Well, I finally made contact with Lenovo business sales. They confirmed the model is EoL and they have no direct replacement model, though they wanted to sell me a chromebook as a replacement... Cause Windows and Chrome OS are apparently the same thing?

  • Finally made contact with HP Business Sales as well. They confirmed they have NOTHING in the way of basic business class entry level PC anymore. The closest we could find is HP 250 G8 Notebook PC = 38J93UT#ABA = https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-250-g8-notebook-pc-p-38j93ut-aba-1

HP Business Sales did let me know that a 14" version of this laptop has been officially announced, but there is currently no timeline on when it will come out.
