  • We just started using NetBox.  There are customizable fields that you could create to track whatever you need.  It holds a lot of information out of the box, but you don't have to populate everything.

  • Spiceworks 7.5 was great while still supported but I haven't found an adequate replacement yet.

Any recommendations on inventory management solutions? We have around 400 devices (roughly 50/50 Windows to Mac), and we're spread between Excel sheets and Access databases.

What do we need? An easy way to keep inventory of our devices. Not only with device information and user information, but also the ability to track how the device was purchased (simply being able to write if it was grant funds or my department budget), date purchased, and warranty dates. Being able to track that is a MUST.

What are you using to accomplish this?

Snipe-IT for sure. You get all that you mentioned plus maintenance history for assets, alerts/reporting and depreciation tracking.

Thanks for the Central mention SpicedNugget!

    Hi rburch,
Nice to learn a little more about your environment! You might consider Central for your asset management solution.
Central is highly customizable allowing admin to create user groups and manage assets. For more info or to access a free trial feel free to see if it's the right fit for the needs of your org here.
    Hope this is helpful!
