Printer not working for certain user after New Years. Possible NTP issue.

So after new years we came in and I noticed some of my users was unable to print to one of our network printers. For those users I simply removed and added the printer's redirect and they work like a charm now. I noticed the IP phones clocks was off. So believing it was an NTP error I ran wtm32 /resync on the Domain Controllers and eventually all devices seem to have corrected their time. 

Later I noticed 1 certain user could not print. 
So I log into an Admin Domain Account to delete the printer I get this error: 


I will then try to add the redirect and get this error. 


I've tried syncing the clock, turning off the firewall, running the troubleshooter, power cycling both the printer and host computer. Unfortunately not good results. 

Any ideas?

  • Not sure how NTP plays into printing.

    Have you demonstrated that the problem computer can print to other printers?  Is all other network access working on that system?

  • You should not log in to the domain computers using member of the Domain Admins group. DA members should only be used to logging into the DCs. Try local admin account to delete the printer to give that a shot.

  • DanLanHandCanVanChanRan​  error 283 is what the client will see when the print server has a recent Windows update but the client is not running the same version of the print spooler.

    Sept 2021 Microsoft Windows Security Update KB5005568 can break cross-server redirection with error 283 or error 317

    There is a registry you can add to the print server or get the client system up to date and that should resolve the issue.

    Do not block Port 135, it is needed by Remote Procedure Calls for the new default protocol
