I have a brand new Lenovo laptop that I upgraded to Windows 11 straight out of the box. After joining it to the domain and installing Office and our ERP client, it goes to the screen saver after ~30-45 seconds of inactivity. Mouse/keyboard activity makes the lock screen appear. Google shows this was an issue on previous Windows versions: https://www.google.com/search?q=lock+screen+appears+after+seconds+of+inactivity
Thee power settings are set for high performance. Screen saver is None and the "On resume, display logon screen" box is not checked. I checked this box and set it to 60 minutes, but it still times out and goes to the lock screen after roughly 45 seconds. The Wait box still displays 60. The screen shut off timer is set to 30 minutes both on and off battery, and the sleep setting is set to 1 hour. I changed all these settings to 5 hours, but still nothing.
I modified Machine Inactivity Limit in local security policies, but that didn't fix it. I also changed the "Screen Saver Timeout" and "Password protect the screen saver" policies in local group policy. (I do not have a global group policy that sets these settings.), but that didn't change anything. I set
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\InactiovityTimeoutSecs to 599940 (its max value), but no luck.
I should also note that this is not specific to one account. It happens with the local admin account, my domain admin account, and the end user's account. It also doesn't matter if the laptop is plugged in or on battery, the lock screen still appears after only a few seconds of inactivity.
