We have just rolled out Office 365 and migrated our users mailboxes up to Exchange Online.
We are using RDS and the Outlook client isn't caching any email for the users. I would like them to have a limited cache of say 1 month. However when I have set this with GPO for my test user it shows only the last months email and doesn't show anything else. There is a link at the bottom of the email list to download the rest.
Is it possible to have Outlook caching the last months of email, while working online for the rest?
I really don't want to have all these users with massive OST files sitting on our RDS servers storage.
As far as I know, cached or online mode can't be used at the same time, you could only choose one mode to sync emails. Or you could try the above alternative, perhaps they are helpful to you.
Are you using Online mode to establish sychronization between Outlook 365 and Exchange Online?
If you want to cache the last months of emails with this mode, perhaps you could try exporting the emails to a .pst file with a specify period:
If you are using cached mode, you could use a registry key or GPO to change the cache period:
Cached Exchange Mode Sync Settings, but this setting may not make the .ost file shrink. The Compression feature in Outlook could help you reduce the size of the .ost files.
