Employees using printers isn't out of the ordinary. Where it become an expensive habit is when those print-outs are consistently being used for non-work related purposes.
In fact, according to a survey conducted by a Cartridge Save, 28% of those surveyed said they would often print out their CVs (or curriculum vitae, which means "course of life", highlighting their professional/academic history) when looking for a new job while they were still employed at their current one. Travel tickets and concert tickets were also common reasons for using the office printer.
What about your office? Do you monitor how often office printers are being used for personal reasons? Do you enforce a printer policy if you discover misuse, as well?
You need to add "Don't but we should" as a choice.
We log our print jobs but rarely check the logs.
If I find a high page count color print on the printer I write the persons name in the corner and put the print in a highly visible place in the plotter room. Small print counts and B/W prints are ignored.

Missing option for never. The more our staff is familiar with our products the better they can assist customers. I think forbidden fruit causes more problems and a little personal use is good for moral. If a big concern, use an accounting package, give all uses x number of personal copies and bill after that.
I view this as one of those things that's just going to happen. Employees are going to take office supplies, they're going to goof off on their computer on company time, and they're going to print personal documents on the printer. It's the cost of doing business...to a point. If we saw a sudden uptick in the average usage for a machine, then we'd become curious. Obviously if we catch someone printing copies of their 500 page screenplay, then we'd have to address it. But concert tickets? The cost of a page or two off an MFC is pennies. There's no ROI for us there.
