Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Spiceworks story. We’ve entered into an agreement through which the company will be acquired by Ziff Davis B2B, a division of J2 Global. The transaction itself is expected to close in the next few days.
As you probably know, Ziff Davis has a storied history in developing and running some of the world’s leading B2B and B2C technology websites including PCMag, IGN, Mashable, Speedtest.net, and others that serve tens of millions of visitors every month. And for technology brands, Ziff Davis B2B brings 20 years of expertise in performance marketing and lead generation solutions that power over a million connections between businesses and brands annually.
And of course, we bring our globally recognized brand, the applications you rely on every day to get your jobs done, a 13-year relationship built on trust and shared value, and most importantly you, the world’s largest community of IT professionals and technology brands of its kind.
As a combined company, our focus is clear, and our goals are achievable: to build the preeminent marketplace that connects technology buyers and sellers. We’ll do so by marrying our greatest assets – the Spiceworks Community, our suite of products, Ziff Davis’ properties, and our combined expertise in helping technology brands find their next customer. You'll get the insights you need to help you run your business and make smarter purchase decisions. Technology brands will gain the intelligence they need to build and sell better products. And we’ll directly connect you so you can grow your businesses together.
Spiceworks and Ziff Davis B2B each bring unique competencies and talented personnel to the combined company. But we both recognize our businesses have some similarities and overlapping functions and skillsets that need to be addressed and integrated if we’re to build a long-term, sustainable business. So, we’ve made the difficult decision to combine and/or reduce some roles at both organizations. Neither organization takes these decisions lightly, and we’ve focused our efforts on being compassionate and supportive during this time. I would like to thank the team for their can-do spirit, commitment to our vision, and to the lasting contributions that will carry us forward.
We’ve always strived to share company news with you before you hear or read about it elsewhere, and this is no exception. You will undoubtedly have questions about future product direction and a host of other topics in the days and weeks ahead. We’ll be sharing more details at SpiceWorld and as always, will continue to keep you informed.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
