  • We have worked not to do instant messaging, it is just another interruption to deal with and our attorneys and paralegals already deal with well over 100 emails a day and tens of phone calls.

Additionally, most people opt out of having their phones forwarded to their mobiles, since the attorneys are often in court, depos, mediations...

Some attorneys do opt to have their voicemails sent to them in email (as an attachment), other prefer just a email notice that they have a voicemail and from who.

We utilize a Citrix Xen-Desktop Environment so that Attorneys and staff can work seamlessly from anywhere with an internet connection.  They have complete, secure access to our system any time it may be needed.

The core of our communication is through our Case Management software.  It handles all calendaring, is a place to keep Notes and History items as well as case specific info, we have over 1,000 Hotdocs that pull information out of our Case Management software.  The case management software is tied to our accounting software for Time and Expenses as well as Inquiry.  Our Case Management software is also tied to our Document Management system.

We have have strict guidelines on use of our document management system.  For instance all case related emails are saved to it and all mail (in and out) is sent to all the appropriate people for that matter from the document management system..  The system  allows people to be notified of important information and even to comment on it as appropriate.

Our system works for all practice areas including Elder Law, Business Law, Plaintiff Litigation, Insurance Defense, Subrogation and probably a few more I am not thinking of at the moment.

So the long and the short of it is we live and die by our Case Management, Document Management and Accounting software and their integration.
