HP Laserjet P2015N Light Sequence

Hi Guys,

Have a LaserJet P2015n printer here that is displaying a light sequence that doesn’t seem to be documented in the manual, had a look around the internet and can’t find an answer either.

Attached is a quick sketch of the two lights that are flashing amber. Also there doesn’t seem to be any motors spinning, possibly a power issue then?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

  • According to this website (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00763669) there's a paper jam and the printer is out of paper. Seems too simple really. There could be a little piece of paper in front of a sensor so the printer thinks there's a jam. If the printer isn't out of paper, it could also indicate a sensor problem.

    • Hi Johan,

      Thanks for the response, stupidly there was no paper in the printer.. (how embarrassing)

      However now i have the top light only flashing, which as you say points to a paper jam.

      I cant seem to find anything and i'm still concerned about the fact there is no noise, almost as if the printer can only power the display and nothing else, could a jam cause the whole printer to not startup if this was the case? doubtful i would imagine.

    • Usually when you power on the printer, it will do a quick check and you will hear some mechanical sounds. It's usually during that check it detects a paper jam. But again, it could be a pretty tiny piece of paper causing this or a faulty sensor. I've had both of these situations, but usually the first.

    • Well seems you are spot on, had another good look and there was a small bit of paper stuck at the back on the roller and sure enough as soon as it was removed the printer started up again.

      Now have a fully working printer again, thanks for you help on the matter :D
