So I have a question

according to your website you use

"We apply psychometric principles throughout the exam development and scoring process and have experienced, dedicated Linux community members to assist us as subject matter experts for our projects to help ensure we continue to produce the highest quality exams we can. Additionally, we conduct thorough statistical analyses to evaluate exam reliability and individual exam items. Because of these analyses and the psychometric properties of our exams, we feel our exams are tough, but fair."

Which means you shove questions that dont have a correct answer to choose from the ones given to see how can pick the most correct "wrong" answer from the choices given yet this isnt told to you till you sit down for testing

but yet none of this is discussed with your partner comptia for the Linux+ exams I am just curious why is to help see more test vouchers ? its one thing when its up front when you buy training material but it isnt told at all, infarct I had to dig into the FAQ section of your website. ( which I have a screen shot of)

Isnt knowing the right answer or the concept more important than getting the best "wrong answer"

Linux Plus Study LXO-103

I just purchased one voucher for my Comptia Linux Plus exam. I'm pretty sure as of today 09/23/15 the LX0-101 and LX0-102 are expired so I plan on taking the LX0-103 and LX0-104. My question is: Do any spiceheads have the LInux Plus Certificate? if so what study material did you use to help and where can I find some good study material for the LXO-101/103 that I plan on taking by the end of next month?

Try LinuxAcademy.com. I used them for my Linux+ cert and passed both tests on the first try. They have self-paced video courses that walk you through each of the exam topics in detail, labs to let you practice, and practice tests. You can spend $50 to get a 3 month subscription and that gives you access to all of their content. It is well worth it in my opinion. If you go to linuxacademy.com/unplugged I believe you can get a 33% discount on your first month.

How long have you guys been studying for your test?  I've been playing with Linux off and on.  Now I want to get my certification in it.

  • Emily (Linux Pro Institute) Nov 18, 2014 at 17:21 UTC

The best way to see how prepared you are is to take a look at the LPIC-1 exam objectives, it will help you identify which topics you are comfortable with and which you might need to study more. Also, I can recommend checking out the discount coupon on our vendor homepage. You can save 20% off on exam vouchers before December 15th, but once purchased you have 12 months to use them ;) Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help.

Happy Halloween from LPI

The LPI North America offices are in a shared office building that happens to be having a Halloween door decorating contest. When I walked in this morning I saw this:

  • Bud G. Oct 31, 2014 at 18:12 UTC

    Did you dress up?

  • Emily (Linux Pro Institute) Oct 31, 2014 at 19:40 UTC

Not today due to low energy levels but I did dress up for a Famous Musicians Halloween party last Saturday. I was Siouxsie Sioux from Siouxsie and the Banshees. I hand painted a replica of her coat from this magazine cover. My images are on the left.

Grab some popcorn, it's video time!

At LPI we talk to a lot of people around the world and two of the most common questions we get asked are "Why should I consider a career in Linux?" followed by "How can getting certified help me?".

So we made some videos to answer them. Check our our new Videos tab to see the results.
