Our desk toys were in a TV commercial!

While we were all on holiday, our desk toys participated in their first TV commercial. They've got connections! And they ended up with custom-knit sweaters!
Happy New Year SpiceHeads!

Clarification regarding network-ms firmware update steps.

Hi,

I'm seeking some clarification of the steps to upgrade the firmware on the network-ms management cards.
I got two cards, rev. JH (level 21), and JI (level 22). Both running firmware JB.

In the release notes of the latest firmware (LE) ( https://pqlit.eaton.com/ll_download_bylitcode.asp?doc_id=35819 ), there's this line:

- Card Technical Level from 17 (Card Revision JA): The last compatible release is JK.

and then further down on row 42 there's this line:

An LE release can be upload to a JK, JM, KA or newer release.

I interpret this as the upgrade path from my current JB firmware is JB -> JK -> LE. But when I'm checking the download page ( https://powerquality.eaton.com/Support/Software-Drivers/Downloads/connectivity-firmware.asp ), there's no JK firmware, but a JL one.

Checking the changelog between JK and JL, there's only this line:

 - Bootloader upgrade to support future firmare releases (KA->)

Should I interpret this as the upgrade path being JB -> JL -> LE ? The end goal is to get to a release later than J*, and thus the bootloader upgrade seems like it would be needed. But why then would it be stated that LE applies to JK, and then skipping any mention of JL before mentioning that it applies to JM too?

Response from our technical support group:

The NetworkMS at Technical Level 17 and greater can be updated to LE. For cards at JA to JI they need to step to JL prior to going to LE. So following the path indicated below would be correct. JK was proceeded by JL in short order due to a discrepancy was found within that release.

    JB -> JL -> LE

    And that worked out great:

    Card Firmware revision :LE
    Card Technical Level :22
    Card Revision :JI

    Thank you very much!

Eaton 9130 RM 1500v_2U Firmware Upgrade

Hello All,
I tried to find what I was searching for on reddit and forums but could not get any conclusive information.

So I got my hands on 2 Eaton 9130 Rackmounted 2U UPS and had to change the batteries in both of them but one is showing up working and the other one is still saying batteries disconnected but Im trying to troubleshoot the other UPS.
But both of the UPS have 1.26 version of the firmware and I would like to upgrade it to the latest from eaton which is 1.30.

While I did follow the instructions provided in the zip file I could not upgrade the UPS to the latest one. Even when doing the Flash Error the UPS is still prompting the "Flash firmware NG!" error code.
I also tried the USB Upgrade method but it did not detect the PowerDevice 1 port.

anyone have any idea whats going on here?
It would help me immensely Thanks..

Hello Thank you for taking your valuable time in assisting me today. Yes they are second hand from a recycling center. Also to mention that I checked the battery pack with multimeter and each battery was coming at 8v in one UPS and 4-5v on the other pack of ups (keep in mind that this is each batt with multimeter so not all 4 connected). I live near Thomasville,GA 31799.

I believe those units have a fuse in them that can go bad.

We have rack PDU turkeys

Our rack PDU turkeys are raised cage-free and are only fed organic food. They typically display only red, brown and yellow tail feathers but our High Density Rack PDUs come in 11 different colors.

Happy Thanksgiving!

ServeTheHome reviews the Eaton 5P lithium-ion UPS

ServeTheHome specializes in the data center industry with servers, storage, and networking. They recently took a look at our Eaton 5P lithium-ion 1U rackmount UPS. It's a pretty decent breakdown though I'm not sure they picked up the concept of an 8-year battery life and the implications of not having to worry about replacing the batteries for that long. But they included some nice pictures!

Nice review. Eventually as UPS's need to be replaced may have to try one out.

Edit: Tagged those that I remember who requested them last year.

Not IT related, but a huge deal for some people - Eaton ELocker for new Jeeps!

This is a big deal because until now, from 2018 on, if you bought a new Jeep JL or JT and didn't get the Rubicon or Mojave from the factory, there were NO locker options available! BYOJ = Build Your Own Jeep and that's a tradition in the community, kind of like BYOPC.
Eaton has a long track record with these lockers, they were OEM in the '06 H2 I had long ago and far away (went away with the primary driver, my ex-wife), and it was a really good tool to get out of trouble. A good buddy (Jeep pal) has an Eaton in his front D30 on his built WJ (35's with a 7.5" lift) and it has taken him everywhere!
I've had Eaton TrueTrac limited slip differentials on a Ford for over ten years and on my little Jeep for over five, that's a great unit, and they look AMAZING when you take them out of the box. The ELockers on the page look super cool, I gotta say.

Oh man, you spent your dough on suspension too, not just horsepower! Nice! I've seen built 351's, but never a stroker 393, that sounds like magic!

I had a '97 Ranger for many years, cut and turned beams and 4" over 33's, James Duff made good stuff for the little Fords. I miss that truck, but it sure never had any kind of horsepower with the 3L and a 5 spd! LSD only never saw the use of a locker for high speed stuff.

My little YJ has room for an AC compressor, a buddy of mine in Durban even sent me the drawings for his Nissan/York setup to copy - too lazy to do the fab. My Gladiator has plenty of room in the bed for the portable, job would never get done.
